I LOVE romantic/love story movies. It doesn’t matter if it’s a comedy or drama, I’m all for a good love story. It’s something magical about them. One of my favorite love stories is Noah and Allie’s from The Notebook. One memorable scene in the movie is when Allie convinces Noah to proclaim he’s a bird because she’s a bird. There’s so much beauty when Noah says, “if you’re a bird, I’m a bird.” It’s simple, but powerful. He’s saying whatever Allie is, he’s that too. That’s the thing with love, when you’re committeed to someone you will go where they go and be what they become. The thing I love most about being a bird with Anthony is that although we’re both birds, we have the freedom to explore the world on our own terms and somtimes even separately.
It’s snowing here in Nashville today so we’re stuck in house. The togetherness of being “stuck” in the house with him prompted me to write a short poem about it.

If you’re a bird, I’m a bird
It’s like my heart and your heart just gird
We’re connected by emotions both shallow and deep
I try and explain it to others but it’s an impossible feat
Because everyone has their own idea of love and they’re all unique
But of course ours is my favorite because it has no peak
We’re birds so we’ll just continue to soar and discover heights unknown
And since life is short we’ll kick its a** and not bemoan
They say birds of a feather flock together, and I must admit that’s true
But the great thing about us is we’re not one bird, we’re two
I’m free to roam around the warm skies and continue to rediscover what makes me tick
While you’re exploring what excites you brick by brick
What I love most about being a bird with you
Is the fact that you’re my equal through and through
There aren’t any crazy responsibilities put on me that you’re not willing to do
Your masculinity isn’t fragile and listen that’s just plain sexy boo
So he’s to more years of soaring the warm skies both separately and together
This aether is designed for us to explore forever
Because if you’re a bird, then I’m a bird
Our hearts just gird

I have never seen the Notebook, but I hear I should and pronto. The poem is beautiful! I love love poems, and I’m very happy to be have been the recipient of one several years ago from my husband. It STILLS resonates with me daily.
